INTERIM SUPT. NAMED

At the Board of Education meeting on Monday, March 20, board members voted to hire Jim Lamer as the interim superintendent for Perry Public Schools.

Lamer is a retired educator from Garber, Oklahoma. He spent 23 years as the superintendent of Garber Public Schools, two years at Billings as the superintendent and principal, and 11 years as a teacher and coach. He retired from Garber in 2016.

The school board was connected with Lamer through Barlow Education Management Services. He  served as an interim superintendent for Chisholm Schools in 2022. His experience will help fill the leadership role and oversee the district’s business until a permanent replacement is hired.

The resignation of the former Perry superintendent, Terry McCarty, was effective on March 10. The Board has partnered with the Oklahoma State School Board Association (OSSBA) to immediately begin the superintendent search process.

“We’re fortunate to have quickly identified a knowledgeable interim to manage the day-to-day operations. Now we can diligently focus on the superintendent search. The Board has worked with OSSBA in the past and trust their resources and network to assist us in the search process,” commented Jason Proctor, president of the Perry Board of Education.
