STUCO JUNIOR COUNSELOR

Perry High School senior, Dezmond Williams was selected to serve as a junior counselor for the Oklahoma Association of Student Council (OASC) BASIC Leadership Workshop for the 2023 summer sessions. This is a highly sought after position. There were more than 60 applicants from Oklahoma schools and only 24 students were chosen.

At BASIC, Oklahoma Student Council (STUCO) advisors lead students from across the state in leadership activities, offering training and hands-on experiences so the students can enhance their local student council and school culture while preparing themselves for future leadership roles in their schools, careers, and communities. The selected group of junior counselors work alongside the advisors to help facilitate the workshop.

Dezmond is pictured with Perry's student council advisor, Anna Schieffer, as well as the Canton Schools student council advisor Matt Schieffer, a Perry native, who was Perry's last junior counselor at BASIC in 2004. The three attended the BASIC spring training meeting at Del City High School this past Saturday, March 25 to prepare for this summer’s workshop.
