ALL-STATE & ALL-STAR ACCOLADES

All-State and All-Star teams were recently announced by Oklahoma coaching organizations, featuring five Perry Maroons.

Basketball accolades were earned by Perry High School seniors, Maebry Shields and Bryson Cash.

Maebry Shields was named to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA) Middle West 3A-4A All-State team. She was also awarded the OGBCA Academic All-State award for her achievements in the classroom.

She will get the opportunity to play in the OGBCA All-State games on Saturday, June 3, at Mustang High School.

To add to her impressive resume, the Oklahoma Coaches Association (OCA) announced Shields as a 2023 Small East All-Star by class. This is awarded annually to the top 12 players in class 3A that were nominated. She plans to join a team at the collegiate level, but has not committed at this time.

In addition, the Lady Maroons basketball team received the OSSAA Distinguished Academic Achievement Award for maintaining a 3.98 GPA as a team.

For the Maroons, Bryson Cash was named to the 3A Small East OCA All-Star by class team. After graduation, Cash plans to continue his basketball career at a college not yet determined.

Wrestling All-State honors were earned by PHS seniors, Kaleb Owen, Isabelle Stoops, and Lyndey Wilda.

The OCA announced Kaleb Owen to the 2023 Small East All-State Wrestling team roster. Owen was a standout wrestler for the Maroons throughout the past four years and a 2X state champion. He has committed to wrestle at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. He will participate in the OCA All-State wrestling event on July 27 at Bixby High School.

Isabelle Stoops capped a successful senior season with a 4th place finish at the OSSAA girls wrestling state tournament. She was named to the OWCA Girls East All-State Wrestling team. Stoops will continue her wrestling career at Carl Albert State College next year.

The Lady Maroons also added Lyndey Wilda as a 2023 All-State wrestler. Both Stoops and Wilda were recognized with their team at the state wrestling tournament as members of the Academic State Champion team. They will compete at the girls wrestling All-State match this summer.

Congratulations to these outstanding Perry athletes and best wishes on their future endeavors.
