Submitted by Perry Public Schools

Perry High School recently named Kyle Bengs as head coach for the Perry High School boys basketball program. He joined Perry Schools in 2020 and has been serving as high school history teacher, assistant football coach, assistant boys basketball coach, and boys golf coach. He will step into the head coaching role for boys basketball, previously held by Beau Custar.

Bengs’ hometown is Crescent, Oklahoma where he graduated from Crescent High School in 1997. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2002 and played for the SWOSU Bulldogs football team during his time there. His wife, Tommie, also shares a love for youth sports serving as the Youth and Family Engagement Director at the Noble County Family YMCA. They have three children: KJ (7), Kollins (4) and Rosie (2).

Prior to Perry, Bengs was a teacher and coach at Dover High School and Crescent High School.

Upon accepting the position, Coach Bengs commented, “I’m looking forward to this opportunity and am eager to get the guys in the gym. We have outstanding young men in this school and I’m grateful to play a role in their lives. I am hopeful to make a positive impact on this program and lead the Maroons to a successful future.”
