The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has announced the recipients of its 2024 Academic All-State Awards. This award is one of the most prestigious student honors in Oklahoma, bestowed to only 100 outstanding public high school seniors annually in recognition of academic achievement, leadership, and community service.
Among the winners is Aubrey McVicker of Perry High School. She is the daughter of Rich Johnson of Nichols Hills and April McVicker of Perry. She is the granddaughter of Rick and Kerri Johnson of Edmond and Jim and Trina McVicker of Perry.
McVicker is involved in many high school clubs and activities. She is serving as PHS cheer captain, a Student Council officer, and Yearbook Editor. She’s also a four-time cheer academic state champion, on the Superintendent’s honor roll, and is a member of National Honor Society and Gifted and Talented.
Academic All-Staters are selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, an ACT composite score of at least 30, as well as letters of recommendation and an essay submitted by each applicant. Each of this year’s All-Staters will receive a $1,500 merit-based cash award, honor cord, and a medallion. The All-Staters will be recognized at the foundation’s annual Academic Awards Celebration on May 4 in Norman, Oklahoma.
McVicker will make the Perry High School list of 15 students to ever receive this honor. The last PHS senior to receive this award was Reid Dormire in 2012. Click HERE to view the full list.
After high school, McVicker plans to attend a university to major in finance, then go on to law school.
“We are extremely proud of Aubrey’s hard work throughout high school. She has been a standout student and this honor validates her dedication and commitment to her academics. We have no doubt that a bright, successful future lies ahead of her,” says Brandon Hight, Perry High School Principal.
