Senior Pitchers Lead Maroons to District Series Sweep Over Crossings

It was a big week for two Maroon senior pitchers as they faced Crossings Christian in a district 3A-4 series.

This past Monday, on senior night, Kyler Zagar struck out 14 batters. His pitching performance made 14 out of the 15 total outs in their five inning run-rule. This led Perry to a big win on senior night with a final score of 14-2.

Maddox Sanders threw a perfect game on Tuesday night against Crossings with 15 up and 15 down in another five inning run-rule, winning 16-0.

PHS clinched the District Championship and secured hosting the first round of the playoff Regional tournament, set for April 25-27 in Perry at Ripley Field.

Perry’s overall season record is 27-5 going into the Guthrie 89er Tournament this weekend as reigning champs from last year. They'll play Piedmont Thursday, April 18 at 6:45pm in the first game of the tournament.

Make plans to support this talented team in playoffs as they have their eye on a return trip to the state tournament!
