Perry Welcomes Back Tanner Miller as the new Upper Elementary School Principal
Perry Public Schools announces Mr. Tanner Miller as the new Perry Upper Elementary School Principal. He will oversee the third through sixth grade level students and staff, filling the position previously held by Lori Justus.
Miller is no stranger to Perry, he previously served as the Perry agricultural education instructor from 2016 to 2021.
Most recently he spent a year as the assistant principal at Oologah Lower Elementary School (Pre-K through 2nd grade), where he was responsible for 475 students and 49 faculty and staff.
In between Perry and Oolagah, Miller spent a couple years at Oklahoma CareerTech as the northeast area program specialist for the Ag division.
His hometown is Orlando, Oklahoma where he graduated high school from Mulhall-Orlando High School.
He then attended college at Oklahoma State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, and then a master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in educational leadership.
Superintendent Chad Wilson commented, “This is a great hire for us. When I asked our current teachers at the upper elementary what they desired to see in their new principal, their top priorities were a strong leader who is approachable, lives in Perry, is a visionary, and has classroom and administrative experience. Mr. Miller fits the bill and I’m confident will do an outstanding job in this role.”
The Perry Board of Education approved the hire on May 30 during a special meeting and his first official day on the job will be July 1, 2024.
Upon accepting the position, Miller shared, “I am excited to be back in Perry, working with the amazing staff at the Upper Elementary. I want to express my appreciation to the Board and Mr. Wilson for the opportunity to return and continue the progress and forward momentum at Perry Schools.”
