SCHOOL SAFETY

Sept. 25, 2024

Dear Perry Families,

Perry Public Schools is aware of the rumors circulating regarding a false accusation involving the safety of Perry High School students. This situation has been thoroughly vetted by administrators and investigated by the School Resource Officer and local law enforcement. It has been determined that there is absolutely no credibility to this rumor. Please rest assured there is no threat to the safety of our students or staff at this time, and the rumor can be squashed. We appreciate your concerns and calls to confirm any validity to this.

The safety and security of our students is, and always will be, our highest priority. We take all reports at any school site very seriously and are committed to swiftly  addressing it.

On that note, you’ve likely seen the viral online and social media posts suggesting school districts across the nation as targets of violence. We are continuing to monitor that ongoing activity. This is also an opportune time to visit with your children about using social media responsibly and its impact on school safety.

If anyone ever sees or hears anything suspicious in the future that could represent a potential school safety issue, we ask that you notify the Superintendent or the SRO.

Chad Wilson
