2024 Perry High School Football Homecoming
Perry High School football homecoming is set for Friday, October 4 at Daniels Field. Perry will host Blackwell that evening, and the students encourage Perry fans to wear black to the game to “Blackout Blackwell.”
The homecoming ceremony will take place promptly at 6:30 p.m. and the football game kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
On Thursday, October 3, there will be a homecoming parade at 5:15 p.m. downtown around the Square, with a pep rally to follow at 6 p.m. at the Perry High School circle drive/courtyard area. This year’s homecoming theme is “The Most Magical Homecoming on Earth.”
King candidates selected for this year’s homecoming court are football seniors, Whelan Carson, Cash Waren, and Tajon Williams. Queen candidates are senior cheerleaders, Elli Jones, Meagan Rames, and Peyton Wines. The little Maroons serving as homecoming gift bearer and crown bearer during the ceremony are Augie Brorsen and Ada Chenowith.
Introductions of each homecoming candidate follows:
Candice Ellinor Jones
Elli is the daughter of Sheila Jones and Klayton Jones, and has three siblings: Chloe, Ryder, and Lila. Her grandparents are Ken and Laura Jones, as well as Larry Hamilton, and the late Candice Hamilton. During her time at Perry High School, she has been involved in cheer, golf, Youth and Government, National Honor Society, Rotary, and is a 4X Academic State Champion with her cheer team. In the community she serves as a Junior Deacon at First Presbyterian Church and is a member of Youth on Main. Her favorite high school memories are winning Cheer Regionals and placing third in State her freshman year. Another favorite memory of hers was when Jaxson Cunningham fell off their junior class homecoming float in his inflatable gingerbread costume. In her free time, she likes to ride horses with her dad, play pickleball, hangout with her friends and her boyfriend, and drive around listening to music with her mom. Elli is an active member of First Presbyterian Church and the First Baptist Church in Perry. After graduation, Elli plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
Whelan Robert Carson
Whelan is the son of Josh and Lacey Carson and has one brother Wyatt. His grandparents are Teresa Snyder, Mark and Vickie Carson, and Gary Snyder. During high school, Whelan started all four years in football, and also plays baseball, basketball, and runs track. He is involved in Gifted and Talented, National Honor Society, and has served as a class officer. He and his family are members of the Zion Lutheran Church. His favorite high school memory is the time he has gotten to spend with his friends playing the game that he loves. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, hanging out with friends, watching movies, hunting, and fishing. After graduation he plans to attend college on a football scholarship and major in sports medicine or kinesiology.
Meagan Victoria Rames
Meagan is the daughter of Stephanie and the late Steve Rames. She has one older brother, Carson. Her grandparents are Ralph and Vicky Beier, and Dennis and Gloria Maine. During her time at Perry High School, Meagan has been involved in cheerleading, golf, National Honor Society, Student Council, Youth on Main, and is a student Rotarian and Lion. She is also a 4X Cheer Academic State Champion. Her favorite high school memory was Cheer Regionals and State in 2021, when the cheer team won Regionals and placed third in the state for the first time in school history. In her free time, Meagan likes to read, spend time outdoors, watch OU football, and hang out with friends, family, and her dog. Meagan is an active member at the First Presbyterian Church of Perry. After graduation, Meagan plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in communications.
Cash Allen Waren
Cash is the son of Ray and LeEllen Waren, and has two siblings AJ and Trace. His grandparents are Dean and Susan Waren, and Rosalee Railey. During his time at Perry High School he has been involved in football and wrestling for four years. His favorite high school memory is looking up at the Perry crowd during his State wrestling finals match last year. In his free time he likes to hang out with friends, family, his dogs and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers. After graduation, Cash plans to attend college and pursue a degree in business.
Peyton Avery Wines
Peyton is the daughter of Jeff and Jaime Wines, and has an identical twin sister Paisley Wines. Her grandparents are Kevin Wines, Bill Vickers, the late Marcia Vickers, and the late Ed and Donna Peatrowsky. Peyton has been involved in cheer since she was in the 2nd grade and is a 4X Cheer Academic State Champion. In addition to cheering in high school, she has also been in Student Council and NHS all four years. Peyton is a member of the golf team and loves volunteering for all school activities. She is an active member at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and enjoys working at Christ Lutheran day care in the baby room. Her favorite high school memory is decorating the junior class homecoming float and winning the class competition. In her spare time, Peyton enjoys hanging with her twin and friends, working with her family on the farm, and going to the lake. After graduation she plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Agriculture.
Tajon Harper Williams
Tajon is the son of Lyndonna and Kevin Williams, and is the younger brother of Dezmond Williams. He is the grandson of Earnestene and the late Cecil Williams, and the late Joann and Lyndon Imke. Tajon has played football, basketball, and baseball for all four years. He was a baseball Academic State Champion in 2023 and State Runner-Up in baseball in 2024. Tajon has been active in Student Council and currently serves as vice president. He’s been a member of National Honor Society for four years, as well as Gifted and Talented. Tajon is the senior leader in the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is an active member of the Presbyterian Church Youth Group. He has also been chosen as a Student Rotarian for 2024-25. As a member of the 2024 Leadership class, he enjoys his time spent with Mrs. Justus’s Pre-K class. In his spare time, Tajon enjoys fishing, playing video games, and hanging out with friends. Looking ahead, he is undecided on a major, but plans to attend college and play football or baseball.
Ada Mae Chenowith
Ada is serving as the homecoming crown bearer. She the youngest daughter of Sam and Amy Chenowith and the little sister of Weston and Clayton Chenowith. Ada is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Lisa Lujan of Torreon, New Mexico and Tom and Karen Chenowith of Towson, Maryland. Ada is a Pre-K student at Perry Elementary School, and she attends the First Presbyterian Church of Perry. Ada loves riding her horse - “The Cherokee Princess,” working cows with her family, dancing at the Y, and visiting every concession stand she can find within a 60-mile radius. When she grows up, Ada wants to be a bank worker and a photographer, and she wants to be the boss of all the cows and horses on her dad’s ranch.
Augie William Brorsen
Augie is serving as homecoming gift bearer. He is the son of Wesley and Haley Brorsen, and little brother to Hayes. His grandparents are Verl and Dianna Brorsen of Perry, and David and Debbie Hayton of Billings. Augie is five years old and in Ms. Theilen’s Kindergarten class at Perry Elementary School. His favorite things are playing baseball, golfing, working cattle, and “ranger rides” on the UTV. He also enjoys attending all the youth activities at his church, First Presbyterian in Perry. When Augie grows up, he says he wants to be a rancher like his daddy.
In addition to the homecoming court, the students serving as pages to hand out programs to guests on homecoming night are Lila Jones, 6th grade, and Daxton Cunningham, 3rd grade.
