Perry High School Basketball Homecoming is set for Monday, January 20 at the Maroon Athletic Center. This year’s homecoming theme is “Let’s Take a Shot at HOCO.”
The PHS basketball teams will host Frontier with the girls varsity game beginning at 6:30 p.m., and the boys game to follow. The homecoming ceremony will take place during halftime of the boys basketball game.
This year’s homecoming royalty includes senior queen candidates Bonnie Jo Childs and Sarah Davison. Senior king candidates are Matthew Larkin and Tajon Williams. Little Maroons serving as crown bearer and gift bearer are Claire Davison and Zack Mangum.
Each candidate’s biography follows:
MATTHEW EDWARD LARKIN is the son of Nick and Kelley Larkin. He has an older sister Rachel Larkin. He is the grandson of Bill and Marlene Larkin of Winfield, Kansas and Mike and Dottie Nemec of Perry. Matthew has played football for four years, basketball for four years, and track for two years. He attends First Baptist Church and enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing video games, and watching sports. His future plans are to attend
Oklahoma Panhandle State University to major in sports management and play football.
BONNIE JO CHILDS is the daughter of Liz and Brad Childs and has two older siblings, Braden and Bethanny. She is the granddaughter of Bonnie and Paul Green, Ken Norman, Matt Childs, and Addie Tohee. During her time at Perry High School, she has been involved in Student Council, Leadership, basketball, and softball. Bonnie’s favorite high school memory is making it to the semifinals of the state softball tournament this year. In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball, fishing, and spending time with friends. After high school, Bonnie will attend Southwestern Oklahoma State to continue her academic and softball career.
TAJON HARPER WILLIAMS is the son of Lyndonna and Kevin Williams. He is the younger brother of Dezmond Williams. He is the grandson of Earnestene and the late Cecil Williams, and the late Joann and Lyndon Imke. Tajon has played football for four years, basketball for four years, and baseball for four years. He was a member of the baseball academic state champion team in 2023 and state-runner up in baseball in 2024. Tajon has been active in Student Council for three years and currently serves as Vice President. He has been a member of National Honor Society for four years as well as Gifted and Talented. Tajon is the senior leader in the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is an active member of the Presbyterian Youth Group. He is currently serving as the Student Rotarian for January. As a member of the 2024 Leadership class, he enjoys his time spent with Mrs. Justus’s Pre-K class. His favorite high school memory is beating Alva in the playoffs his freshman year. Tajon enjoys fishing, playing video games, and hanging out with friends in his spare time. He plans to attend college, major in Exercise Science and play football.
SARAH MICHELLE DAVISON is the daughter of Sam and Brittany Davison and has three younger sisters, Karaline, Natalie, and Claire. She is the granddaughter of Sam and Sandra Davison and Mark and Sandy Crowder. Sarah is a member of First Baptist Church where she attends with her family. During her time at Perry High School, she has been involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Leadership, basketball, and track. Sarah’s favorite high school memory is placing 2nd at State in the 4x100M relay with her friends. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, singing, and spending time with friends. After high school, Sarah will attend Oklahoma Baptist University to continue her academic and basketball career.
Serving as crown bearer and gift bearer for the 2025 PHS Basketball Homecoming coronation is Claire Davison and Zack Mangum.
CLAIRE OLIVIA DAVISON is the daughter of Sam and Brittany Davison. She has three big sisters, Sarah, Karaline, and Natalie. She is the granddaughter of Sam and Sandra Davison and Mark and Sandy Crowder. Claire is seven years old and is currently in second grade at Perry Elementary. She enjoys gymnastics, dance class, cheer, and playing with her friends. When Claire grows up she wants to be an OU cheerleader.
ZACKARY RYAN MANGUM is the son of Travis and Robyn Mangum. His grandparents are Mark and Becky Moran and Darlene and the late Gary Mangum. Zack has three siblings, Natalie, Lakely, and Grant Mangum. He is in Mrs. Sewell’s first grade class at Perry Lower Elementary School. His hobbies include playing basketball, building paper airplanes, riding his bike, and practicing his flips on the trampoline. When Zack grows up, he wants to be an engineer that builds paper airplanes.
In addition to the homecoming court, Jersi Childs and Dailey Jo Hatchett will be serving as pages on homecoming night.
