WRESTLING HOMECOMING - TUES 1/21

Perry High School wrestling homecoming is set for this Tuesday, January 21 in the Maroon Athletic Center. This year’s homecoming theme is “Night on the Mat.”

The junior high and high school Maroons will host Blanchard, while the Lady Maroons will host Yukon. There will be two mats and the evening will begin with junior high at 6 p.m. At the conclusion of the junior high boys and girls duals, the homecoming ceremony will take place. Following the coronation, the high school boys and girls will take the mat. 

The 2025 PHS Wrestling Homecoming royalty includes Carson Avery, Strauss Karcher, Cash Waren, Meagan Rames, Jade White, and Paisley Wines. The young Maroons serving as homecoming crown bearer and gift bearer during the coronation are Margot Bolay and Kellen Rupp. Pages for the evening are Macy Owen, Ruth Dvorak, Easton Klinglesmith, and Heston Klinglesmith.

The biographies for each candidate follows.

 

CASH ALLEN WAREN is the son of Ray and LeEllen Waren, and the big brother of AJ and Trace Waren. He is the grandson of Dean and Susan Waren, and Rosalee Railey. Cash has been on the wrestling team for four years. His accomplishments include being named a 2023/2024 Co-Captain, and the 2024/2025 team Captain. He is a 2023 Cabot, Arkansas “Bring the Hammer” tournament champion, a 2X State qualifier, a 2024 State runner-up, and a 2023/2024 Granite award, Maroon Mentality, and Most Falls award recipient. This year he also received his 100th career win, with a 0:33 second fall versus Pawnee. In his free time, Cash enjoys spending time with his family, girlfriend, and friends, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and playing with his dog, Willie. Wrestling has taught Cash discipline, and that no matter what, to not give up, and to give everything you do 100%, whatever it is. Cash’s favorite wrestling memory is when the team all bleached their heads his junior year before the regional and state tournaments. Cash is committed to Southwestern College in Kansas to continue his football career. He plans to major in sports management. 

 

MEAGAN VICTORIA RAMES is the daughter of Stephanie Rames and the late Steve Rames. She has one older brother, Carson. She is the granddaughter of Ralph and Vicky Beier, and Dennis and Gloria Maine. Meagan has been in cheer, golf, and National Honor Society for four years, and Student Council for three years. She is also involved in Youth on Main, and is a student Rotarian and Lion. She is a 4X Academic Cheer State Champion. Meagan is a member of the First Presbyterian Church youth group. In her free time, Meagan likes to read, spend time outdoors, watch OU football, and hang out with friends, family, and her dog. Being a cheerleader has taught Meagan how to push herself harder for her teammates, not for herself, and to be confident in everything you do. Her favorite cheer memory was winning Regionals and getting 3rd at State her freshman year. After graduation, Meagan plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in communications. 

 

STRAUSS ANDREW KARCHER is the son of Levi and Teresa Karcher, and the brother of Madison Blocker, Nate Karcher, and Willow Karcher. He is the grandson of Mike and Judy Phelan of Enid, the late Darrell Karcher, and June and the late Larry Beckwith of Cleo Springs. Strauss has wrestled for six years. He qualified for State his junior year and has earned the Granite award and the Maroon Mentality award.He has also been a starter on the high school team the past four years. He attends First Christian Church and enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time working on cars with his dad, and hanging out with friends and loved ones. His current plan for the future is to further his education as an electrician. His favorite memory from wrestling is singing ‘Back in Black’ in front of the whole team and coaches his sophomore year so the team could have a game day. The sport of wrestling has taught him to appreciate a real meal, individual responsibility, self-discipline, and accountability. Reinforcing his favorite quote, “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” 

 

PAISLEY BELLE WINES is the daughter of Jeff and Jaime Wines, and has an identical twin sister Peyton Wines. Her grandparents are Kevin Wines, Bill Vickers, the late Marcia Vickers, and the late Ed and Donna Peatrowsky. Paisley has been involved in cheer since she was in the 2nd grade and is a 4X Cheer State Academic Champion. In addition to cheering in high school, she has also been in Student Council and NHS all four years. Paisley is a member of the golf team and loves volunteering for all school activities. She is an active member at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and enjoys working at Christ Lutheran in the after-school program. Her favorite high school memory was attending the Student Council State Convention her senior year. In her spare time, Paisley enjoys hanging with her sister and friends, working with her family on the farm, and going to the lake. After graduation she plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in business.

 

CARSON BROCK AVERY is the son of Eric and Melista Avery of Perry. He has two brothers, Blake and Dylan. He is the grandson of Steve Avery of Covington, Harla Eslick of Covington, and Jerry and Joan Kitterman of Fort Towson, OK. Carson has watched and been part of wrestling his whole life, following his brothers all over the state. He has been on the Perry Varsity wrestling team for the past four years. His accomplishments include being in National Honor Society, on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll for the past four years, along with being in Gifted and Talented. He is a Co-Captain of the wrestling team and a student Rotarian. In his free time he enjoys hunting, hanging out with friends and family, playing video games, traveling and watching football. His favorite wrestling memory is when the team shaved their heads and went to Nebraska. Being a wrestler has taught him how to work hard for his goals. Carson’s future plans include attending college.

 

JADE ANNMARIE WHITE is the daughter of Curtis and Chapelle White.  She has one younger brother Kelby White.  She is the granddaughter of Bruce and Susan Henderson, Pam and Tracy McDonald, Sandra Barrett and the late Charles Cole, Audrey and the late Morris Henderson, the late Tom and Rita Wade, and the late Arleta Cole. Jade has been involved in tennis for five years and a Mat Maid for one year.  She is a student Rotarian and attended Girls State. Jade is an active member of the First Baptist Church. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends, family, and her dogs. She also enjoys shopping with her mom and going to the beach. Being a Mat Maid has taught Jade responsibility and how to be confident in everything she does. Her favorite high school memory was attending Girls State her junior year. After graduation she plans to attend Langston University and major in nursing.

 

KELLEN BEAU RUPP is serving as the gift bearer for homecoming. He is the son of Laddie and Tory Rupp, and little brother to Beckett Rupp. He is the grandson of Mark and Stephanie Rupp of Perry, Joe and Ramona Maehs of Morrison, and Dennis and Joni Padilla of Van Buren. Kellen is six years old and in Mrs. Sewell’s first grade class at Perry Elementary School. His favorite things are wrestling and doing headstands. He also enjoys participating in youth activities with First Presbyterian Church. When he grows up, he’d like to be a motorcycle racer. 

 

MARGOT FRANCES BOLAY is serving as crown bearer. She is the daughter of Mason and Elise Bolay and the younger sister of Everett and Winston. Her grandparents are Mike and Mignon Bolay of Perry, along with Marc and Anna Muscaro of Edmond. At five years old, Margot is enjoying Ms. Androes’ kindergarten class at Perry Elementary School. Margot loves everything pink and finds joy in dancing, working cattle, and making trips to the gas station for a snack. Recently, she started wrestling with PWA and is excited about the chance to wrestle alongside her brothers. Margot is also a dedicated participant in the religious education programs at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry. When asked about her future, Margot dreams of becoming an artist.
