PHS ART STUDENTS GIVE BACK

The PHS Chapter of National Art Honor Society (NAHS) held a fundraiser in December selling handmade wooden, decorative Christmas trees. They were crafted and painted by PHS Art students.

With the proceeds from their fundraiser, the students decided to use the funds to donate $100 to the Perry Veterinary Hospital. The funds will be used to support local animals who end up at the Perry Animal Shelter and need vet services.

Students were able to present the check to local dog catcher, Kelsey Hayes, who brought a shelter puppy with her to the high school. The dog named “Kane” was warmly welcomed and loved on by the art students and Mrs. Allred. Kane is 6 months old and available for adoption.

In addition to their donation to the Vet Clinic, students were also able to donate another $100 to purchase artwork from a non-profit organization called Kids & Art. The artwork from this organization is designed by pediatric patients with cancer, or other serious illnesses, to help provide these children with a creative outlet while under the stress of their illness. Their vision is to include participation in arts as a part of their regular treatment plan to help mitigate anxiety and trauma. Their newly purchased artwork will be displayed at Perry High School.
