PPS Staff & Families,
With many unexpected school closings this year, I wanted to let you all know our current status on snow days and makeup days for our school calendar. As of now, we will need to makeup one day of school to meet state requirements. Our district calendar has two built-in snow days for this purpose. We will plan to use Friday, May 2 as a makeup day. Students and staff will now report to school that day, so please update your calendars.
Looking ahead to next week, the forecast is not looking favorable. They’re predicting over an inch of snow and extreme cold temperatures beginning on Tuesday. Snow and cold do not necessarily mean school will be cancelled, but it can impact travel conditions, which is a factor in school decisions.
We want our staff and families to be informed and prepared for the possibility of additional school closures next week. Especially our bus riders, so you can plan ahead and start making appropriate arrangements if bus routes are impacted.
If we miss two or more days in the future for inclement weather this school year, we would either have to:
- Add time to the remainder of our school days.
- OR utilize the other built-in snow day on the calendar set for April 4.
That will be determined and announced at a later date, if necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation this week with our distance learning days. We’ll see what shakes out next week and keep you updated.
