PHS Band Advances to State Contest
 
Perry Band members traveled to Cushing for the OSSAA District Band Contest on March 4 and March 5. They competed against other 3A school concert bands in their district. 
 
The Perry Junior High Band was up first and their performance received an Excellent (2) ranking on stage and a Superior (1) ranking in Sight Reading. 
 
The two pieces they performed were entitled "Celtic Air and Dance” by Sweeney and "The Hoofbeat” by Mekel Rogers. The junior high band is directed by Casey Smiley.
 
Perry High School Band took the stage on March 5 in Cushing to perform “Scramble” by Stalter and “Not Alone” by Randall Standridge.

Their performance earned Straight Superior (1) ratings on stage and a Superior in sight reading. Punching their ticket to the OSSAA State Contest in April at East Central University.
 
The high school band is directed by Andrew Houghton, who commented, "I can’t tell you how proud I am of these kids.
